This is the last in the series on Relative Pronouns:

Followng the preopositions A, De, y Con: When the antecedent noun is NOT a person, we use QUE following these prepositions.

Do you remember the issue we talked about yesterday?
Recuerdas el asunto de que hablamos ayer?

The ease with which she does it impresses me.
La facilidad con que lo hace me impresiona.

This is the project to which I'm referring.
Éste es el proyecto a que me refiero.

When the antecedent noun is a person, we use EL QUE, EL CUAL or QUIEN.

My friend I told you about wants to join us.
El amigo del que te hablé quiere acompañarnos.
El amigo de quien te hablé quiere acompañarnos.

We have to find the man with whom María left the party
Tenemos que encontrar al hombre con el que María salió de la fiesta.
Tenemos que encontrar al hombre con quien María salió de la fiesta.

I want to meet the woman Alberto married.
Quiero conocer a la mujer con la que se casó Alberto.
Quiero conocer a la mujer con quien se casó Alberto.

The actress you resemble is Ellen Page.
La actriz a la que te pareces es Ellen Page
La actriz a quien te pareces es Ellen Page

I introduce you to the friends with whom I work.
Te presento a los amigos con los que trabajo.
Te presento a los amigos con quienes trabajo.

EL CUAL is more often used after prepositions of two or mor syllables and the prepositions sin y por.

We went to the theatre in front of which there was an elaborate fountain.
Fuimos al teatro enfrente del cual había una fuente elaborada.

This is the park in the midddle of which is the tallest tree in Minnesota.
Éste es el parque en medio del cual está el árbol más alto de Minnesota.

This is the friend for whom I worked last Sunday.
Éste es el amigo por el cual trabajé el domingo pasado.

It was a long process by which they found her mother.
Fue un largo proceso mediante del cual encontraron a su madre.

We need chocolate chips, without which, we can't make these cookies.
Necesitamos pepitas de chocolate, sin las cuales, no podemos hacer estas galletas.

Let's go to the park behind which there is that beautiful lake.
Vamos al parque detrás del cual hay ese bonito lago.

Do you know the legend according to which Paul Bunyan created the lakes of Minnesota.
Conoces la leyenda según la cual Paul Bunyan creó los lagos de Minnesota?

Following the preposition En: When we talk about a place in time or a general location or idea, we use QUE.

It was a situation in which the parents had to leave their children.
Fue una situación en que los padres tenían que dejar a sus hijos.

The day you were born was the happiest day of my life.
El día en que tú naciste fue el día más feliz de mi vida.

Do you remember the week they disappeared.
Te acuerdas de la semana en que desaparecieron?

We must fight for the rights in which we believe.
Hay que luchar por los derechos en que creemos.

It was the same month that Bill Clinton became president.
Fue el mismo mes en que Bill Clinton se hizo presidente.

When we talk about exact location, we use EL QUE

He gave her a box in which she could put all his letters.
Le dio una caja en la que podría poner todas sus cartas.

We need to find the hole in which they hid the keys.
Necesitamos encontrar el hueco en el que ocultaron las llaves.

There is a book here in which I wrote the password.
Hay un libro aquí en el que escribí la contraseña.
