This podcast was María's idea. She thought of it when we were preparing a Cultural Competency talk for the Concordia Language Village Seminar: Spanish for Health Care Professionals. (For more info on this wonderful course, check out the link.) And just today someone requested: "Medical Spanish for the Front Office."
So I hope that means you find these phrases useful when communicating with your patients. Even if you are a beginner and always use an interpreter, using the phrases provided in this podcast will show your patients that you care. You can imagine being sick in a foreign hospital where you do not speak the language, and a nurse saying to you, "I hope you are better soon." It would immediately put you at ease.
Note: I published this podcast under both the Grammar and Medical Spanish feed as I thought it would be useful to both sets of learners.
Please leave comments and questions regarding the podcast here. Or share another useful phrase in Spanish, perhaps something you have heard a patient say.
